Logs
and Databases
Online-Visions is a website and, like most websites, we log
all site visits and transactions. All the usual data gets collected
-- the type and version of your browser, your IP address, your ISP domain,
the time and date of your visit, which pages you visited... that type
of thing. Don't panic! All this data is just used by us to see how many
people come from the UK or use Netscape or which pages and features
are most popular. You know, the typical concerns people running web
pages have. We don't match individual users with specific site information
because, well, that's too time consuming and we'd much rather just turn
out a neat web site or practice that new coin move Roth came up with.
Subscribers to the
newsletter are asked for their email address. Naturally, you are not
required to subscribe to read Online-Visions. Your email address will
not leave our hot little hands. Ever. Privacy is rare online nowadays
and we hate spam like you do. No, more than you do. No, more than that.
Anyway, your email address goes absolutely nowhere outside of us.
Cookies
Online-Visions doesn't use cookies as a rule. However, advertisers on
Online-Visions may use them to advertise on the site. The way it works
is that the only way Online-Visions stays free is through the advertising
we have in place, and the only way we get paid is because those little
cookies tell them to pay us. Yes, you can turn those cookies off, but
we'd really appreciate it if you wouldn't -- free to you ain't free
to us and those little files help us pay the bills.
On a bit of a tangent,
we will never, ever use or support the use of tracking cookies. Any
advertiser using tracking cookies will be dropped faster than a dead
dove at a PETA convention.
Newsletter Subscribing
and Unsubscribing
Online-Visions requires you to give us your own email
address when subscribing to the newsletter. Other than that, we collect
no other data for your subscription information: no name, address, location,
nothin'. If we could figure out a way of getting the newsletter directly
into your email box without your email address, we'd do it. As it is,
know that your email address is safe with us. We use it to send out
the mailings and that's it. We don't use outside lists, we don't sell
to outside lists, we don't even know how to get an outside list. We're
happy in our ignorance there.
We also use an opt-in
process to make sure you put in the right email address. That means
simply that once you subscribe, an email is sent to the address you
gave us which you must reply to before being added to the subscription
list. This protects everyone from getting the newsletter when they don't
want it and also makes sure the newsletter gets delivered to the correct
address.
And just as easy
as it is to subscribe, it's also easy to unsubscribe. This is done from
the website, just like subscribing. If you unsubscribe, your email address
vanishes like Houdini's elephant in the Hippodrome. It may linger in
a backup somewhere, but that will be the only remnant of it in existence.
Changing subscription
information -- that is that pesky email address -- requires you to unsubscribe
your old address and then subscribe with your new one. Again, we hold
onto nothing related to your old address except the odd back-up copy
of the database.
In the rare event
something happens (which is very rare because computers and programs
never ever crash or anything) and you cannot unsubscribe from the website,
drop us a line
and we'll manually remove you from the database. We don't want to send
the newsletter to anyone that doesn't want it and we'll do everything
to make sure that doesn't happen.
External
Links
We have a lot of links to other sites besides ours. We're not responsible
for the privacy policies or the content of those destinations. Think
of clicking as an "as-is" type of thing. If you're concerned
about your privacy at other destinations, you'll need to check with
them. It's a big net and we can only be responsible for our very tiny
little corner of the kajillion sites out there.
Telling Somebody
About Online-Visions
At the bottom of most pages, you'll see a place where you can send a
link to the page to a friend of yours. We don't store the email address
in that process, all we do is send them the URL. Think of it as a shorthand
way of you sending an email to somebody and saying "You gotta see
this!" but without all the cut-and-paste stuff.
Emailing
Us
When you send us an email, we try to answer it as quickly as possible.
Note that all of us are working performers and business people, so "quickly"
is a relative term. All correspondence is treated as personal but not
confidential unless you tell us otherwise.
Changes
If we end up changing this policy in any major way, we'll let you know
through the newsletter. Again, we do not ever intend on sharing any
of your information with some third-party somewhere. If for some reason
that becomes necessary, we'll contact you directly first. In all honesty,
we'd rather be forced to sit through a performance by Magico the Bizarre
Clown Hypnotic Juggling Magician than contemplate such a thing.
Questions
If you have any questions about this privacy policy or our practices,
please feel free to contact
me by email only.
