Proving the Impossible Legend Have an impossible effect which you'd like to challenge our readers with? Let us know! So there I was, going through a bunch of old magic books, tossing some and keeping some (you know how that goes), when I ran across a write-up of an effect by Karl Fulves. Fulves was talking about Hofzinser, and described what, at first blush, sounds like the card-workers version of the "Indian Rope Trick". With a little bit of thought and using some simple methods, though, it's certainly possible. But what if we up the ante a bit? Let's find out. From Fulves, the effect went like this: A spectator is asked to stand, remove a finger ring, and hold it behind their back. Another spectator picks a card, signs it, and returns it to the deck. The deck is then gone through and the chosen card is gone. The standing spectator brings their hands forward and, rolled into a tube and inside the ring, is the chosen card. Lots of workings come to mind, but let's boil things down a bit... Conditions To submit your solution, simply send it, as a plain text file, via e-mail to shane@online-visions.com. As always, be as original as you dare! Good luck! |
