Proving the Impossible

Legend SOLVED!

by Charlie McBurney

The only preparation is to have the bottom card of the deck corner crimped. Pick two large gentlemen to come forward who are wearing finger rings. Large because the ring size will be bigger. Have ca card selected signed and returned to the deck using a Hindu shuffle, this places the crimped card on top of the selection. Give the deck a few cuts bringing the crimped card to the bottom, the selection is now on top. The right hand palms the selection as you set down the deck.

Ask the second gentleman to remove his ring and place it behind his back, gesture removing the ring and place your hands behind your back. Quickly roll the selection into a tube as the gentleman is removing his ring, then palm it in your left hand. Note you need a strong palm here to prevent the tube from unrolling.

Just as the gentleman is about to place the ring behind his back, say” Perhaps I should examine the ring first.” Take the ring in your right hand say” It looks real to me.” Transfer the ring to the tips of the left fingers inserting the selection into the top of the ring, just enough to start it.

Ask the gentleman to hold out his hand. Retake the ring with the right hand sliding the ring onto the selection, place the assemble into the gentleman’s hand so its across his palm. Guide his hand behind his back, wink to him as you do this, because there is no way he will not feel the card. You can also prompt him with a stage whisper if you so wish. Take the deck and give it a corner riffle, claim the selection is no longer in the deck because its inside the second spectators ring. Have the ring brought forward and have the gentleman remove it from the ring and confirm its his signed card.
