Proving the Impossible
by Jason Cardwell Make sure the labels are easily removed and replaced, such as post-it strips. The crucial element would be to put the recorders in a box (or I prefer two boxes) which gives trap door access to an assistant hidden beneath the table. I suppose it could be worked without an assistant if the magician was seated at the table and could use one hand above the table while making the switch below. The recorders would need to be switched and the labels switched as well. I think something elaborate, like having two boxes with "electrical
terminals" on them and byplay involving the connecting of wires
could be sufficiently distracting, and if the magician worked sometimes
with one hand and sometimes with the other, it would probably help to
further misdirect from the action under the table.
