Proving the Impossible

Carrying Voices
Contest Deadline: June 15th, 2007

Have an impossible effect which you'd like to challenge our readers with? Let us know!

Reader Michael Dunaway is responsible for the beginnings of this challenge. In Michael's effect, he used blank audio tapes and a tape recorder. Well, considering the digital age, I changed things around a bit and moved the tools of the trick from analog devices to miniature digital voice recorders (I had in mind those little keychain-type things, but don't let that stop you from using other types of the things). The challenge, then, looks like this:

Challenge
Two spectators are each given a miniature voice recorder. A label in on each recorder, and the spectators are asked to write their initials, sign their names, or otherwise mark the label so the voice recorder can be identified as theirs. The spectators then each record themselves saying something into the recorders. A wave of the hand or other by-play is used and, when the recorders are played, it's found that the recordings have somehow switched places, with the first spectator's voice appearing on the second spectator's recorder and visa versa.

Conditions
- No stooges
- No pre-show work

To submit your solution, simply send it, as a plain text file, via e-mail to shane@online-visions.com.

As always, be as original as you dare!

Good luck!

Shane
